NW Flower and Garden Show: Tin Man
Posted February 26 2013If you visited the NW Flower and Garden Show in Seattle this weekend, you may have seen a fun, creative, and colorful Wizard of Oz-themed display garden in the skybridge entryway. This garden, "On the Road to Oz," was designed by local grower trade group Flower Growers of Puget Sound and included several Wizard of Oz characters as well as a wide variety of gorgeous annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs. All plant material was donated by Northwest growers.
One of our customers, Skagit Gardens, was helping to design this garden and requested McConkey's help in creating the display's Tin Man. We were happy to help out a customer with such a fun project, so our design and fab shop team began working on designs for the nursery can Tin Man (below). Our wide selection of nursery cans and round pots came in very handy here!
Once the design was complete, a sturdy frame was constructed from metal rods and each nursery can was carefully placed, then painted silver. The Tin Man then donned some sunglasses and rainboots for the unpredictable Seattle spring weather, and he was ready to go!
